Geht es Euch auch so, daß Ihr viele von jenen, die jetzt als papabile gehandelt werden, kaum oder gar nicht kennt?
Vllt. könnten wir ja ein paar interessante Artikel sammeln, welche die angeblich aussichtsreichen Kardinäle vorstellen?
Wer etwas findet, kann ja einfach einen Link setzen.

Für "direct matin" hat Kardinal Ranjith gute Karten:
- Er ist jung (65)
- Er ist ein Vertauter von Papst Benedikt
- Er kennt sich im Vatikan aus (Mitarbeiter in verschiedenen Kongregationen)
- Er ist ein Mann der Tradition (Anmerkung von mir: das muss nicht unbedingt ein Vorteil sein)
- Er kommt aus einem aussereuropäischen Land (Shri Lanka), einem sehr armen Land. "Die Liebe zur Liturgie und die Liebe zu den Armen sind die Leitfäden meines priesterlichen Lebens."
- Er ist sehr beliebt beim Volk und hat nicht nur Erfahrung in den Kulissen desVatikan sondern auch und vor allem auf dem Terrain (alltägliche pastorale Arbeit unter den Menschen). Unter anderem war er Nunius in Indonesien zur Zeit des grossen Tsunami und er hat sich sehr für die Opfer der Naturkatastrophe eingesetzt.
- Er ist weltoffen, spricht 1 Sprachen(Anmerkung von mir: u.a. sehr gut deutsch, er hat vor ein paar Jahren ein Pontikalamt in Maria Vesperbild gehalten und hat dort auch in fehlerlosem Deutsch gepredigt), besitzt viel diplomatisches Geschick und er hat Erfahrung im Umgang mit anderen Religionen.

If from Latin America and Africa, where indeed the majority of the world's Catholics live, there do not seem to emerge prominent personalities capable of attracting votes, the same is not true of Asia.
On this continent, soon to become the new axis of the world, the Catholic Church also is wagering its future. In the Philippines, which is the only nation in Asia where Catholics are in the majority, there shines a young and cultured cardinal, archbishop of Manila Luis Antonio Tagle, the focus of growing attention.
As a theologian and Church historian, Tagle was one of the authors of the monumental history of Vatican Council II published by the progressive “school of Bologna.” But as a pastor, he has demonstrated a balance of vision and a doctrinal correctness that Benedict XVI himself has highly appreciated. Especially striking is the style with which the bishop acts, living simply and mingling among the humblest people, with a great passion for mission and for charity.
